The Queen of Clean, also known as Lynsey Crombie, is a cleaning influencer and social media sensation who has taken the internet by storm. Many of us get through multiple toothbrushes throughout the year.
Not only does the cost add up – especially if you’ve got an electric toothbrush – but this can be bad for the environment.
For those looking to save money, Lynsey has shared a genius hack for cleaning your toothbrush for under 5p.

The cleaning expert used denture tablets to try clean her toothbrush.
Lynsey used a well-known brand but for those looking to spend even less money, the Queen of Clean’s first tip was to opt for a cheaper brand.
She said: “You can pick up a supermarket’s own brand for much cheaper.”
Lynsey then explained how fellow cleaners can get to work cleaning their toothbrush using the denture tablets.

She continued: “Simply pop one [a tablet] into some water with your toothbrush.”
The Queen of Clean used a glass measuring jug which she filled with water to cover the bristled head of her toothbrush.
She added: “These obviously have bicarbonate of soda in them which is why they’re good at cleaning, along with a few other ingredients.”
The water went blue as the tablet dissolved which signalled that it could be left to work.
“The water has gone blue. I’m going to go downstairs and do some bits and pieces,” Lynsey explained.
“These denture tablets do kill 99.9 percent of bacteria.
“And bacteria is sitting on your toothbrushes. Believe me your toothbrush is dirty.
“Unless you’re in the market for changing your toothbrush every week, obviously again, it is not good for the planet because of the plastic (unless you buy bamboo ones), it is important that you do keep your toothbrush clean.”
Many of Lynsey’s tips use “natural ingredients” with lemons and bicarbonate of soda being two of her “favourites”.
One of the tips she’s best known for is covering a halved lemon in bicarbonate of soda and squeezing it so the juice and the soda mix.
She then rubs the lemon and bicarbonate of soda on stainless steel drainage board on her sink and leaves it for 10 to 15 minutes.
When she wipes the lemon juice and soda away, her drainage board is shiny and free of limescale or water marks.
