Mum-of-two Lauren Hubbard, 31, has managed to transform her one bland new build bathroom into a stunning work of art. Lauren, who runs a successful home Instagram account called @homeofgetkooky, describes her incredible home in Hull, East Yorkshire as “quirky and colourful”. The mum-of-two also owns her own self-adhesive, decorative vinyl company called Get Kooky.

Lauren’s entire home is bright and luxurious with deep greens, vibrant pinks and various patterns.

The funky home was revamped for under £10,000 with the bathroom costing just £350.

Lauren spoke with with Insulation Express about her renovation.

She explained: “Our bathroom has had a complete makeover and looks like a completely different space.

“It cost me including all the accessories – £350.”

The inspiration for the bathroom was to create a “Miami vibe”.

She said: “I went for a mint green in the bathroom as I was creating a ‘Miami vibe’ and with it being mainly enjoyed by the kids.

“I knew they would love the nice bright colours but equally, it’s perfect to wind down for a soak after a busy day with some candles.”

The Miami-style bathroom was also influenced by Lauren’s desire to go abroad for a holiday.

She added: “I wanted a Miami vibe bathroom, probably because during this pandemic I have been craving going abroad and holidaying in the sun so I recreated my own paradise to escape to!”

“Pretty much all of our house has been accessorised using these same businesses,” said Lauren.

The small business owner described her style as “fearless”, loving vibrant colours, patterns and bold designs.

She also said she’s not afraid to try different combinations.

“If they don’t work you can always change them,” she added.

“It also partly depends on the season I am decorating in.”

Lauren’s bathroom includes mint green tiles, bright pink walls, pink and green wallpaper and gold accents and accessories.

A gold glitter ball hangs above the bath to create a glamorous, luxurious feel.

The room also has plenty of plants to complement the pink and green shades.

Marc Hardy, from Interior Design and Architectural consultancy Space I.D., told Insulation Express that there has been a “movement” toward botanical colours.

He added: “Over the past year there has been a movement towards botanical colours and a 60s Miami vibe. Shades of pink proving prominent.”

Jenny Turner, property expert at Insulation Express, said exotic shades of pink and pale green are very on-trend for the summer.

“Our research shows that warm exotic shades of pink, pale pink, and mint green are on trend this summer 2021.

“It also found that both light and dark shades of grey are popular all year round and should be complemented by those trending colours each season”.
