Nicky Campbell: Caller screams ‘it’s not rubbish’ over accepting being poorer
Nicky Campbell has been gracing Britons’ TV screens for decades and has been a member of the news and sport network BBC Radio 5 Live since 1997. His radio career also includes work for BBC Radio 2.
The 62-year-old began his TV career in 1986 on Music Box. He then hosted a pop quiz on Grampian TV called The Video Jukebox in 1987.
From 1988 to 1997 he became a regular presenter of the hit BBC show Top of the Pops.
In 2009, he started hosting Long Lost Family alongside Davina McCall. The show remains one of ITV’s highest-rated factual shows.
The presenter was born in Portobello, Edinburgh and was put up for adoption when he was just a few days old.

He was educated at an independent school called the Edinburgh Academy. He then went on to study history at the University of Aberdeen and graduated with a 2:1 degree.
The journalist and presenter now lives in Clapham with his second wife, Tina Ritchie who’s a former presenter of Radio 1 Newsbeat.
The couple also have a home in the Scottish Highlands and have four daughters – Breagha, Lilla, Kirsty and Isla.

He also shares his stunning Victorian London home with his beloved dogs.
