Roxy Shahidi, 38, has played the Emmerdale character Leyla Harding since 2008. The character departed in August 2011 before returning in 2013 for two episodes and returning full-time in 2014. Roxy has one child and is married to fellow actor Arsher Ali, 37, who has appeared in Line of Duty and Ackley Bridge.

The couple reportedly live together in their home in Nottingham with their child and German shepherd Kaya.

So what does Roxy Shahidi’s home look like inside?

Living room

Off screen, Roxy describes herself as a “yoga teacher, mum, wife and vegan”, according to her Instagram account.

Many of her videos and photos show her teaching short yoga classes and demonstrating yoga poses.

Some of the videos even offer a glimpse of the Emmerdale actor’s gorgeous living room.

A video posted just four days ago on her Instagram account reveals an insight into her stylish yet understated living room.

Decorated completely white, the room has lots of statement furnishings including a retro blue leather swivel chair, a 70s-style black leather armchair with matching foot stool and a red Persian-style rug.

The room also has a cosy woodburner which has been painted white around the edge with exposed brick left in the centre.

Above the fireplace, an abstract red painting of a vase of flowers has been placed on the mantel along with a hanging plant.

The white room, which has lots of natural light and a built-in, glass-fronted book case, allows Roxy to share her yoga demonstrations in the middle of the room.

The floorboards have also been painted white to allow the bright furnishings to make a statement.

In other videos, a mustard polka-dot cushion has been placed on the blue chair, and a red and beige swirly cushion have been put on the other.

Reception room

Roxy appears to have two sitting rooms in her home, as revealed by a video posted in late February.

This room has also been painted completely white but includes two sofas – one orange and one dark green.

Both the velvet sofas look luxurious and have been furnished with tropical plant cushions.

The white floorboards have been covered with another pale pink Persian-style rug.

A large yucca house plant has been placed by the door and three vintage-style paintings hang on the walls in complementing colours.

A photo of Roxy’s German shepherd Kaya as a puppy in November 2020, reveals more of the Emmerdale star’s trendy decor.

An orange-pattered floral rug has been put on the floor and a yellow foot stool with a faux fur throw on top of it is situated behind Kaya.

Roxy captioned the photo: “Look who’s just joined the family.

“Kaya the German Shepherd, she is a little power house! Full of energy and cuddles.”
