Inflation for the year to August shot up to 3.2 percent from two percent in July, the largest jump from month to month on record. While that figure isn’t the one used for the state pension triple lock figures, at the current rate of inflation, the state pension would increase by almost £300 a year, welcome news for pensioners who were dealt a blow when the triple lock was suspended for the tax year 2022/23.
