Steam Summer Sale 2020 – what game deals to expect as start date 'leaked as June 25'

WE'RE just weeks away from the annual Steam Summer Sale – and huge savings on top video games are incoming.

If you're desperate for some deals, we've tracked down all the latest news and rumours about the Steam Summer Sale 2020.

What is the Steam Summer Sale?

Steam is an enormous online super-store for buying PC games – with a seemingly endless library of titles.

There are great deals to be found all year round, but the biggest bargains are rolled out for the Steam Summer Sale.

This yearly PC gaming bonanza sees the price of video games slashed by huge margins. In some cases, you'll see discounts in the 80% or 90% range.

Often gamers will wait many months to buy a game during the Steam Summer Sale, when it's most likely to be discounted.

When is the Steam Summer Sale 2020? Dates revealed

Valve, which runs Steam, hasn't confirmed an official date for the sale.

In fact, it probably won't. Instead, expect the store to go miraculously offline – before lurching back to life.

The good news is that the Steam Summer Sale date almost always leaks, and that already seems to be the case for this year too.

An insider named Pavel Djundik says that the Steam Summer Sale 2020 date is set for June 25.

And he reckons it'll come to a close on July 9 – giving you around two weeks of video game discount action.

Pavel works on the Steam Database, which collates information about the platform, and often leaks changes ahead of time.

So while he's not guaranteed to have the correct date, he's got a good track record of releasing insider info about Steam itself.

In any case, even if Pavel is wrong, we can expect the Steam Summer Sale to start some time around then.

The 2019 dates were exactly the same: June 25 to July 9.

Steam Summer Sale 2020 deals – what games will be discounted?

We don't know which specific games will be on sale.

However, it's possible that this information will be leaked in the coming weeks.

The good news is that it's typically not just small-time indie games or obscure titles that are discounted.

You'll always see major price cuts from big studios.
